“She’s definitely a one-of-a-kind teacher, the one that you’ll remember for the rest of your life” - Morgan, 18
It is my goal as a teacher to discover the individualized learning style of each student and use that to help them grow and develop as both musicians and human beings. I believe in developing strong, healthy technical basics while nurturing the student's love of music. I work with each student to create a custom curriculum that best suits their goals, whether their interest lies in classical, fiddle, or something in between. Learning an instrument is about much more than just playing. Music lessons offer a space to practice discipline, structure, self motivation, and artistic expression. The value of being immersed in music and working day by day to grow as a musician, impacts every area of life, be it sports, academics, current work, or future careers.
“I would highly recommend Zoe to anyone seeking an exceptional teacher” - Zach, 38
I was raised in the Sierra Foothills of California and started teaching violin as part of my 8th grade project at Live Oak Waldorf School. In more than 14 years of teaching, I have taught through my own private studio, as Strings Specialist at Yuba River Charter School, as faculty at Crescendo Academy of Music, and as Graduate Assistant at Western Michigan University. I hold a Master of Music Degree in Violin Performance from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music. In addition to my more than 19 years of classical training and performance, I have studied Scottish fiddle with Alasdair Fraser and other traditional music with masters from around the world.
"I've found more enjoyment in playing than I ever had previously...Zoe was the third violin teacher I've had as an adult, the one who's taken me the most seriously, and by far the most thoughtful and helpful one." - Matthew, 38
